Folded cartridge heaters (PGP) are cartridge heaters with special characteristics. They are used for the heating of tools, hot plates, etc. where bores are drill-outs or oversized from previous use and thus larger than standart diameters which require tight heater-to-bore contact for more efficient heating (e.g. a standard cartridge heater of ?12,5mm requres tight contact, but a PGP of ?12,5 allows for a bore of ?12,8mm or more).
Due to its unique design the folded cartridge heater adjusts its dimension to the bore when heated as it expands outward toward the walls of the bore, and it contracts when it cools down, which enables easy dismantling. A special feature of this heater is also that it heats along its entire surface, including the tip.
